Human Resources & Payroll Assistant

A growing professional services organization is seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Assistant to support both HR and Payroll operations. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday and wants exposure to employee onboarding, HR administration, payroll processing, benefits support, and compliance. You'll work alongside experienced HR professionals while building valuable skills that can lead to future advancement into Human Resources or Payroll leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist with onboarding, new hire paperwork, and employee file maintenance
• Process payroll updates including status changes, wage adjustments, and direct deposit requests
• Support benefits enrollment and employee communications
• Maintain confidential HR records within the HRIS system
• Assist employees with payroll and HR-related questions
• Coordinate background checks and employment verification
• Prepare HR reports and assist with compliance documentation
• Support employee engagement initiatives and special HR projects

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of HR, payroll, or administrative experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with ADP, Paylocity, UKG, or similar HRIS software preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities
• HR coursework or certification is a plus
