Certified Payroll Specialist

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity with a growing organization supporting payroll operations across multiple companies and business units. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional with construction experience and a strong understanding of certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll across multiple organizations and business units
• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports for prevailing wage and public works projects
• Review timecards, overtime, deductions, pay rates, job codes, and employee classifications for accuracy
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements
• Track and reconcile fringe benefits and prevailing wage requirements
• Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions
• Work closely with project managers, HR, accounting, and field personnel to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and month-end processes
• Maintain organized records across multiple projects and organizations

Qualifications:

Requirements

• 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably within construction or a project-based environment
• Hands-on experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage
• Experience processing payroll for multiple entities, companies, or business units
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance, wage classifications, and fringe benefits
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, or similar payroll systems
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Experience with LCP Tracker, eCPR, or similar certified payroll software is a plus
