The Mendoza-Halliday lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh is currently coordinating two large-scale collaborative projects in which we compiled a database of laminar electrophysiological neuronal recordings from 15 different mammalian species and from multiple laminated brain structures, provided by multiple labs. We are seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to coordinate data sharing with collaborating labs, manage and maintain the database, and perform data analysis of neuronal activity and computational modeling. The Technician will also perform cognitive training and testing of laboratory animals.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions

Performs a variety of computer data analysis procedures. Manages and maintains databases. Coordinates data transfer with collaborating labs. Performs behavioral and cognitive training of laboratory animals.


Physical Effort

Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for an extended period of time. Must be able to work with laboratory animals.

Hiring Range: $19.07 to $23.83 per hour
