Job Summary**

Sparus Utility Services is seeking a dedicated Private Utility Locator to accurately identify and mark underground utilities, ensuring the safety of excavation projects and preventing damage.

Job Responsibilities**

* Perform precise location and marking of underground utilities (e.g., gas, electric, water, sewer, telecommunications) using various detection equipment.
* Interpret and understand utility maps, blueprints, and as-built drawings.
* Operate and maintain a variety of utility locating equipment, including electromagnetic locators, ground penetrating radar (GPR), and other specialized tools.
* Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and crew members regarding utility locations and potential hazards.
* Document locate findings accurately, including sketches, photographs, and detailed reports.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and industry best practices.
* Travel to various job sites as required.
* Perform basic maintenance and calibration of equipment.
* Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.

Job Qualifications**

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or a related field is preferred.
* Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and construction practices.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documents, maps, and blueprints.
* Proficiency in operating utility locating equipment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, walk extensively, and lift up to 50 pounds.
* Willingness to travel locally and potentially regionally for projects.
