Position Summary:
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring that all supplied components and materials meet the stringent quality standards required in the manufacturing process. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining supplier quality systems, conducting thorough supplier audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance. The role involves close collaboration with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100:2016 and other relevant regulatory standards. By leveraging root-cause analysis and data-driven methodologies, the Supplier Quality Engineer helps to minimize defects and reduce risks associated with supplier-sourced products. Ultimately, this role ensures that the final products delivered to customers meet or exceed quality expectations, supporting the company’s commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in supplier quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100:2016 standards and quality management systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the regulated manufacturing industries.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and quality metrics reporting tools.
- Experience with supplier development and training programs.
- Knowledge of additional quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Certification in Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement methodology.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier quality audits and assessments to ensure compliance with ISO/AS, contractual and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues using root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) and review supplier documentation to verify product conformance to specifications.
- Develop and implement supplier quality improvement programs, including training and process enhancements.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and provide regular reports to internal stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Support cross-functional teams in supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing quality monitoring activities.
- Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to evaluate product specifications and ensure dimensional accuracy.
Skills:
In this role, the candidate will apply supplier quality engineering principles daily to assess and improve supplier processes and product quality. They will use ISO 9001 and AS9100D standards as a framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality systems. Root-cause analytical skills will be essential for investigating quality issues and implementing effective corrective actions. The candidate will utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret engineering drawings and verify product specifications during inspections.
