Overview

The underwriter reviews applications to ensure the loan information is complete and meets all GreenState lending policy guidelines and regulatory guidelines. The underwriter is responsible for the approval and denial of all loan applications submitted based on his/her lending authority.

Salary range for this position is $90,593.36 - $105,914.12 with a progressive benefit package. 



Responsibilities

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change.

  1. Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.

  4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.

Within Mortgage Department Standards:

  1. Reviews loan documentation for all first mortgage loans to ensure the loan information is complete and condition files accordingly to meet all GreenState and secondary market lending guidelines.
  2. Responsible for the accurate decisioning of submitted mortgage loan applications following GreenState portfolio, and secondary market guidelines and procedures and investor overlays as applicable.
  3. Responsible for ensuring the quality of the loans and that they are in compliance with state/federal and investor regulations and guidelines and within GreenState policies and procedures.
  4. Reviews appraisals for property collateral; verifying that all requirements of the investor are met.
  5. Works with mortgage post- closing department when necessary to ensure final documentation is received by the investors in a timely manner.
  6. Responds to Quality control findings to resolve deficiencies.
  7. Maintain current understanding of all investors, state and federal guidelines, which include knowledge of Regulation Z (Truth-in-Lending), Regulation C (HMDA), and all other regulations that would have implications for GreenState’s lending abilities.
  8. Stay abreast of requirements and guidelines for delegated programs, products and/or services.
  9. Oher duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  1. Two or more years mortgage underwriting experience preferred or Five or more years of experience in a mortgage loan support role involving knowledge of approval and guideline processes.
  2. Knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC/ guidelines.
  3. Ability, availability and willingness to work flexible hours to accomplish workload during periods of peak demand.
  4. Ability to prioritize, organize, and process tasks accurately and efficiently to manage pipeline.
  5. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  6. Ability to work with multiple priorities to meet turn times and maintain control in high stress situations to ensure quality service levels.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Knowledge of procedures, forms, secondary market guidelines and regulations as they relate to mortgage lending.
  9. Effective and strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to use a personal computer and related software including Word, Excel, and mortgage loan origination system; and ability to use mortgage loan financial calculators.
  11. Must be bondable.

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Director Mortgage Underwriting.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of others.
