Adena - Human Resources Generalist

Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of HR to support Adena Corporation. This position will be responsible for functional areas of benefit administration, onboarding, electronic personnel record setup and maintenance, FMLA eligibility and tracking along with other qualifying leaves of absence, as well as assisting with policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Sets up and maintains employment files for all new and existing employees via Vista (HR & Payroll databases).
  2. Attaches documentation electronically to employees’ Vista file
  3. Sets up new employees with a Bernie Portal account
  4. Enters all benefit additions/changes/terminations in the appropriate plan’s website
  5. Answers employee questions related to benefits
  6. Audits monthly benefit billing to ensure all eligible employees are active and that terminated employees have been removed
  7. Administers FMLA and other eligible leaves including meeting with employees, tracking time off, and submitting the appropriate pay information to payroll for processing
  8. Completes employment verifications through e-Verify
  9. Completes employment verifications for loans, unemployment, child support, etc.
  10. Completes appropriate background checks for all new hires
  11. Administers the random drug testing program including employee notification and providing the appropriate documents for testing facility
  12. Notifies the State of Ohio with the names of employees recently hired
  13. Organizes and preps for orientations (orientation scheduling, orientation packets, PPE required, notification to management of attendees)
  14. Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process
  15. Collaborates with department managers and Director of Human Resources to identify and compile detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
  16. Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization
  17. Assists with job posting and advertisement processes
  18. Screens applications and selects qualified candidate
  19. Creates and updates department forms as necessary
  20. Notifies IT to setup/terminate emails from company lists and requests computers for new hires as necessary
  21. Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
  22. Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  1. Associate’s degree in business, Human Resources or related field or minimum of five (5) years of previous human resources experience required
  2. Professional written and verbal communication required
  3. Experience in Microsoft Office with a strong concentration in Excel required
  4. Vista Viewpoint experience preferred
  5. A highly motivated person who is a self-starter is a must


This position is full-time (40-hours per week) and will be scheduled Monday – Friday. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
