Sr. In-House Litigation Paralegal

A long-time RH client - a notable insurance company - is looking for an experienced In-House Litigation Paralegal to support a busy legal team in Orange County. This position plays a central role in managing insurance-related disputes and employment matters, helping attorneys keep cases organized, timely, and cost-conscious. The ideal candidate brings the ability to coordinate effectively with outside counsel, carriers, and internal stakeholders. This is not a junior role; a solid understanding civil litigation in insurance or employment law is a must-have.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of insurance and employment litigation matters by tracking status, organizing case materials, and helping move each matter forward efficiently.

• Communicate with outside attorneys, opposing counsel, and insurance representatives regarding case developments, document needs, and opportunities for early resolution when appropriate.

• Maintain litigation calendars for matters across multiple jurisdictions, monitor key deadlines, and ensure counsel receives accurate and timely case information.

• Compile records and factual information needed for discovery preparation, subpoenas, and other litigation-related requests while supporting counsel with complete and organized materials.

• Develop case timelines, summaries, and chronologies to clarify events, identify information gaps, and assist in evaluating potential exposure and strategy.

• Monitor legal spend and assist with matter budgeting by reviewing trends in settlements, fees, and anticipated costs using reporting tools and spreadsheets.

• Draft routine legal documents such as releases, cease and desist letters, and no-record declarations, as needed for case handling.

• Track subpoena responses, gather responsive documents, and help close matters accurately through proper documentation and follow-up.

• Update matter information in Legal Tracker and related systems to maintain current reporting on case activity, budgets, and status.

• Use tools such as Excel, SharePoint, and AI-enabled legal technology platforms to support reporting, document management, and day-to-day litigation operations.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of paralegal experience within insurance defense or employment law.

• Familiarity with claims concepts, coverage-related issues, indemnity matters, or subrogation principles.

• Knowledge of civil litigation processes, including discovery support, subpoena management, and case tracking.

• Ability to assess case developments, identify relevant facts, and help keep matters progressing within established timelines and budgets.

• Proficiency with Excel Legal Tracker.

• Ability to commute to Huntington Beach 3-5x/week.
