Systems Administrator
We are looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to support a Financial Services organization with critical on-premises infrastructure initiatives in San Francisco, California. This Contract position is designed for someone who is detail oriented and can balance hands-on Linux administration with automation, storage, virtualization, and security work across several priority projects. The engagement is expected to run for approximately 3 months and may continue based on business needs and ongoing infrastructure support demands.
Responsibilities:
• Build, configure, and maintain Ubuntu-based Linux servers within an on-premises enterprise environment.
• Establish and manage an Ansible framework to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and repeatable deployments.
• Oversee file server operations and support storage platforms, including configuration, performance tuning, and ongoing administration.
• Deliver multiple infrastructure-focused projects covering server implementation, automation improvements, and overall environment optimization.
• Apply security standards and strengthen systems through hardening measures, access controls, and risk-reduction practices.
• Support the organization’s virtualized environment, including administration and upkeep of Proxmox-based systems.
• Work with technology leadership to define priorities, while independently driving assigned initiatives through completion.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, recommend practical improvements, and help maintain reliable day-to-day system operations.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Linux environments, with strong knowledge of Ubuntu systems.• Hands-on expertise designing and implementing Ansible for infrastructure automation from the ground up.
• Experience managing file servers and storage technologies, including familiarity with ZFS environments.
• Working knowledge of virtualization platforms, particularly Proxmox.
• Solid understanding of infrastructure security principles, system hardening, and operational best practices.
• Ability to manage project-based technical work independently while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
• Background supporting on-premises infrastructure in a business environment.
Compensation
