Claims Associate

We are looking for a Claims Associate to join our Insurance team in Sunrise, Florida on a Contract basis. This position supports the medical claims process from initial intake through review and communication, while helping ensure accurate, timely, and compliant handling of member and provider information. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of medical claims, billing practices, and customer service, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced office environment.

Responsibilities:
• Open and establish new medical claims, prepare required documentation, digitize incoming materials, and move claims forward for review and processing.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to secure missing records or supporting paperwork needed to complete claim evaluation accurately.
• Assess submitted claims against applicable benefit plans and determine whether services qualify for coverage.
• Confirm eligibility and coverage details through internal resources and attach all relevant backup documentation to claim files.
• Send clear written updates to members to confirm receipt of claims and explain claim status and adjudication steps.
• Provide a high level of service by responding with professionalism, empathy, careful attention to detail, and strong listening skills.
• Act as a knowledgeable resource on benefit-related questions and help members understand product and coverage information.
• Protect confidential member and payment data by following established security, privacy, and authentication requirements at all times.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in medical claims, medical billing, or a closely related healthcare administrative role within an office setting that requires attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, coding concepts, billing methods, and standard claims processing practices.
• Ability to read and interpret primary explanation of benefits forms and related insurance documentation.
• High school diploma required; additional college coursework or higher education is preferred.
• Prior customer service experience with the ability to communicate effectively with members and providers.
• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities, manage workload efficiently, and meet established service expectations.
• Comfortable taking initiative and performing effectively in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$18.05-$20.90 Hourly
