Public Staff Tax Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support tax compliance work for a long-term contract opportunity in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This position focuses on preparing and reviewing a range of tax filings while working closely with established tax software and maintaining accuracy across deadlines. The ideal candidate brings hands-on public accounting experience, strong technical tax knowledge, and the ability to manage both individual and corporate returns in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and complete individual income tax filings with careful attention to accuracy, supporting documents, and applicable regulations.
• Handle corporate tax return preparation by organizing financial information, applying relevant tax rules, and ensuring timely submission.
• Perform day-to-day tax preparation activities for multiple client engagements while maintaining consistent quality standards.
• Use CCH ProSystem and CCH ProSystem Fx tools to enter, review, and manage tax return data efficiently.
• Examine tax documentation for completeness and follow up on missing or unclear information to keep engagements moving forward.
• Coordinate priorities across assigned tax work to meet filing deadlines during busy periods and throughout the engagement.
• Support the review process by identifying discrepancies, correcting issues, and helping maintain compliance with current tax requirements.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience preparing individual tax returns in a public accounting or tax-focused environment.
• Practical knowledge of corporate tax return preparation and related compliance requirements.
• Strong background in tax preparation with the ability to manage detailed financial and tax information accurately.
• Hands-on experience using CCH ProSystem and CCH ProSystem Fx software.
• Solid understanding of tax documentation, filing processes, and deadline management.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with internal teams and clients as needed.
