Senior Property Accountant
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Senior Property Accountant maintains and oversees the daily accounting activities and financial reporting for multiple commercial properties. This role trains accounting staff and partners with property management teams on lease administration, CAM reconciliations, and monthly reporting.
In addition to property accounting responsibilities, the Senior Property Accountant manages intercompany transactions, oversees employee expense allocations, assists with software implementation, and helps ensure the integrity of accounting procedures across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain bookkeeping and complete monthly reporting for multiple commercial properties/entities on both accrual and cash basis
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Collaborate with property management teams on budget preparation
- Train and mentor team members in commercial property management and accounting
- Support tenant audits and requests
- Review, maintain, and process new and existing leases in the Yardi accounting system, maximizing system functionality
- Process TIA reserve disbursements with tenants and lenders where appropriate
- Prepare year-end reports for the tax preparer
- Complete annual CAM reconciliations
- Process 1099 forms
- Assist with annual business license processing, software implementation, and overall expense allocation
- Understand and monitor intercompany transactions
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate accrual-based accounting
- Experience using Yardi
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Collaborative, flexible, and dependable with a strong work ethic
Compensation
