Property Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Produce accurate property-level financial statements and related reports within established deadlines.
• Respond to tenant questions regarding rent, account balances, and payment activity in a clear and timely manner.
• Partner with property managers to address accounting issues, clarify transactions, and resolve outstanding financial items.
• Maintain organized accounting documentation and review records to identify discrepancies or trends requiring attention.
• Monitor incoming payments, support collection efforts, and help reduce delinquent balances through consistent follow-up.
• Enter financial data into accounting systems and keep ledgers and supporting records up to date.
• Apply fair housing regulations and internal financial procedures when handling resident and property-related matters.
Qualifications:
• Experience or training in property accounting, general accounting, or a closely related area.• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and core accounting processes.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems and accurate data entry practices.
• Ability to manage collections activity and follow up on outstanding balances professionally.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review financial information for accuracy.
• Effective communication skills for working with tenants and property management personnel.
• Understanding of fair housing laws and the importance of regulatory compliance in property operations.
Compensation
