Accounting Analyst

We are looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our client in White Plains, New York in a contract position with the potential to become permanent. This role is focused on operational accounting and will support the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of key balance sheet activity across monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, advanced spreadsheet skills, and the ability to work through large, detailed datasets with minimal ramp-up time. This position is fully on site at the start and may require additional hours during close periods and project deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review roll-forward schedules for assigned balance sheet accounts across monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting periods.

• Reconcile account activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies by working closely with accounting and finance stakeholders.

• Analyze high-volume financial data using advanced Excel techniques, including lookup formulas, pivot reporting, spreadsheet links, and automated data connections.

• Support budget planning, forecasting activities, and financial analysis that inform operational and accounting decisions.

• Partner with external auditors and internal team members to provide documentation, answer questions, and assist with reporting requests.

• Research accounting matters, evaluate supporting data, and present clear conclusions for management review.

• Contribute to special projects and additional accounting initiatives as assigned, including process-related reporting support when needed.

• Maintain accuracy and organization while handling large datasets and meeting deadlines during month-end close and other peak periods.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with a background that includes balance sheet analysis and reconciliations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Prior experience supporting public company reporting environments is strongly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, linked worksheets, and large-volume data handling.
• Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting concepts.
• Ability to research accounting issues independently and communicate findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to work on site in White Plains, New York and accommodate overtime as business needs require.
• Experience with JD Edwards and exposure to the airline industry are helpful but not required.

Compensation

$38.00-$44.00 Hourly
