Sr. Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing construction company in Nashville. This is a part-time contract opportunity working approximately 28 hours per week onsite, ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and partnering directly with operations leadership.

The Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger activities, month-end close, financial reporting, and construction-related accounting functions while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records
• Assist with job cost accounting and project-related financial reporting
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities as needed
• Review revenue and expense recognition for construction projects
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Coordinate with external CPA firms during audits and tax preparation
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accounting controls and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Construction, contracting, or project-based accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes
• Experience with ERP or accounting software systems (Keystone would be great)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a small-company environment
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
