The Assistant Director, Regional Engagement serves as the primary staff liaison for the Villanova University Alumni Association (VUAA) Regional Clubs program. This role is responsible for the operational management, volunteer leadership support, and execution of regional club programs and activities, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality engagement experience.

The individual in this position must be skilled at developing high-level strategic programs that are effective and best-of-practice. This position will work internally with university staff, as well as externally with alumni volunteers. The incumbent must be skilled at building strong relationships, managing expectations, and handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management:
  • Serve as day‑to‑day manager and primary point of contact for the Regional Clubs program.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and support regional volunteer leaders, including club presidents and boards.
  • Manage annual volunteer registration, compliance, and leadership transition processes with support from the Volunteer Engagement Specialist.
  • Track club participation, engagement, and satisfaction metrics; prepare reports and recommendations.
Program Management:
  • Oversee planning and execution of club events, programs, and signature initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Special Events and Communications partners on club‑related activities.
  • Manage operational budgets for Regional Clubs and assigned regional engagement activities.
Additional:
  • Staff support for other related Alumni Relations and University Advancement initiatives including, but not limited to: Homecoming, Reunion, 1842 Day, VUAA Volunteer Leaders Conference, and others as established.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in alumni relations, volunteer engagement, program management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship management and event coordination. Experience with managing multiple priorities, working independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and volunteer management skills required. Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize and delegate effectively, and assess results using data.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment, including personal computers, word processing,
  • Excel and/or other spreadsheet programs required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best practices within Alumni Relations or Advancement in a higher education setting a plus.
  • Knowledge of event or marketing software a plus.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Willingness and desire to travel required. Must be able to work additional hours in evening and weekends to provide support for events and programs. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally and regionally by air and train are required.

Salary Posting Information:
This position falls within salaried grade 14 and the range is $58,300-72,900. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
