Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a high-volume workforce in San Jose, California. This is a Contract position focused on managing end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with ADP Workforce Now and can handle payroll activities for employee populations exceeding 500 with precision and professionalism.

Responsibilities:
• Process complete payroll cycles for a large employee population, ensuring wages, deductions, and adjustments are calculated correctly and delivered on schedule.
• Administer payroll activities across multiple states while applying federal, state, and local requirements to maintain compliance.
• Use ADP Workforce Now to manage payroll transactions, review records, and resolve processing issues efficiently.
• Audit payroll data for accuracy by validating time, earnings, taxes, and benefit deductions before final submission.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding promptly to employee and internal stakeholder questions.
• Maintain organized payroll documentation and support reporting needs related to payroll activity and compliance.
• Partner with HR, benefits, and finance teams to ensure employee changes and payroll updates are reflected accurately in each pay cycle.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience managing full cycle payroll from data review through final payroll submission.
• Proven ability to process multi-state payroll while working within applicable wage and tax regulations.
• Strong working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now in a high-volume payroll environment.
• Experience supporting payroll for organizations with more than 500 employees.
• High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and correct issues quickly.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive payroll information with discretion.

Compensation

$33.25-$36.00 Hourly
