Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a contract assignment based in Kirkland, Washington. This role focuses on delivering accurate payment processing, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting month-end activities in a fast-paced accounting environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in accounts payable operations, communicates effectively across teams, and takes a detail-oriented approach to compliance and reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Process capital call disbursements through wire transfers, coordinating required approvals to ensure timely and accurate payment release.
• Administer positive pay file submissions for check payments and investigate exceptions to protect payment integrity.
• Support period-end accounts payable close activities by partnering with accounting staff on accrual-related items and reconciliations.
• Research and resolve payment and accounting questions from internal stakeholders and external partners with professionalism and accuracy.
• Work closely with the accounting team to prepare recurring monthly financial reports and provide supporting data as needed.
• Handle state and local filing obligations, including Washington sales and use tax reporting, while maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.
• Maintain vendor tax documentation, keep W-9 records up to date, and assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting.
• Contribute to process enhancements, document revised workflows, and provide support for financial data imports, ad hoc analysis, and special projects.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounts payable with a strong understanding of full-cycle invoice and payment processing.
• Working knowledge of account coding and invoice coding procedures within an accounting environment.
• Hands-on experience with electronic payments, including ACH and wire transactions, as well as check run support.
• Familiarity with positive pay processes, vendor documentation management, and 1099 reporting requirements.
• Ability to assist with month-end close tasks, accrual coordination, and financial reporting support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate successfully with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

$28.00-$35.00 Hourly
