Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support financial operations for a team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. This long-term contract position focuses on maintaining accurate receivables, applying incoming payments, and coordinating billing and collection activities with a high level of attention to detail. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing daily cash activity, resolving account discrepancies, and partnering with internal teams and customers to keep payment processes on track.

Responsibilities:

• Process customer invoices and maintain accurate accounts receivable records to support timely payment activity.

• Apply incoming payments to the correct customer accounts and reconcile cash postings against open balances.

• Monitor aging reports, follow up on outstanding invoices, and communicate with commercial clients regarding overdue payments.

• Investigate billing questions and account discrepancies, then work with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.

• Review daily cash activity and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly within financial systems.

• Prepare account summaries, payment status updates, and related receivables reporting for internal review.

• Support ongoing billing operations by verifying invoice details, documentation, and payment terms before release.

• Assist with process updates or system-related changes affecting receivables workflows when needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in accounts receivable, including billing, payment application, and account follow-up activities.
• Strong understanding of cash application processes and daily cash reconciliation practices.
• Ability to manage commercial collections professionally while maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Familiarity with reviewing account activity, identifying discrepancies, and resolving payment issues accurately.
• Proficiency using accounting or ERP systems and standard business software for receivables tasks.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with customers and internal business partners.

Compensation

$22.00-$24.00 Hourly
