Payroll Clerk

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team in New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with high-volume payroll operations and can manage sensitive employee pay information with accuracy and professionalism. The role supports payroll activities across multiple store locations and requires strong communication, organization, and spreadsheet skills.

Responsibilities:

• Process payroll activities for multiple locations, supporting compensation for more than 1,000 employees with a high level of accuracy.

• Review and apply payroll updates such as pay corrections, deductions, and court-ordered garnishments, including child support withholdings.

• Communicate with external agencies and store personnel to resolve payroll-related questions and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items.

• Perform payroll audits to identify discrepancies, verify records, and help maintain compliance with company and regulatory standards.

• Administer sick pay entries and ensure time and pay records are reflected correctly in payroll processing.

• Prepare, batch, scan, and print payroll checks according to scheduled processing deadlines.

• Use Excel functions such as VLOOKUPs and pivot tables to analyze payroll data, reconcile information, and support reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of payroll-related experience in a high-volume processing environment.

• Hands-on experience managing payroll adjustments and garnishment activity.

• Strong understanding of payroll processing procedures and payroll record accuracy.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and payroll information.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a deadline-driven setting
