Join our correctional healthcare team as a Per Request Needed (PRN) Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) serving the Robertson and Middleton Units in Abilene. This flexible opportunity is ideal for compassionate, dependable nurses who are committed to providing high-quality patient care in a unique and rewarding healthcare environment.
PRN LVNs are expected to work a minimum of four (4) 12-hour shifts per month based on departmental staffing needs. As an essential member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will deliver safe, patient-centered nursing care while practicing within the LVN scope of practice and organizational policies under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Required Qualifications
Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position . Current CPR certification. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt. No experience required.

Major/Essential Functions
- Deliver Quality Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care by administering medications, performing patient assessments, monitoring health status, and implementing established care plans.
- Monitor Patient Conditions: Observe, recognize, and promptly report changes in patient conditions to support timely interventions and the development of appropriate patient care goals.
- Support Medical Procedures: Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for examinations, procedures, and other clinical interventions while ensuring equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
- Maintain Accurate Documentation: Document patient assessments, nursing interventions, medication administration, and other clinical activities accurately and timely in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate with the Healthcare Team: Partner with physicians, registered nurses, advanced practice providers, and correctional staff to deliver coordinated, safe, and effective patient care in a secure correctional setting.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to organizational policies, nursing standards, infection prevention practices, medication management requirements, and all applicable healthcare regulations, including medication storage and direct observation protocols.
- Respond to Medical Emergencies: Assist with patient triage and provide prompt nursing care during urgent and emergent situations while supporting emergency response efforts within the facility.
