Tax and Insurance Escrow Team Lead
Our client, a growing mortgage servicing company, is looking for a Tax and Insurance Escrow Team Lead to support daily operations within our mortgage servicing team in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. This position partners closely with department leadership to guide staff, oversee workflow quality, and help maintain efficient tax and insurance escrow processes. The ideal candidate brings strong mortgage servicing knowledge, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to provide hands-on assistance with complex account activity while promoting service excellence and compliance.
Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day guidance to team members, answer complex processing questions, and serve as a reliable resource for tax and insurance escrow matters.
• Partner with management to track workflow performance, review operational results, and help balance staffing coverage to meet service expectations.
• Maintain accurate escrow and non-escrow loan records within the servicing platform, ensuring account information remains current and complete.
• Coordinate timely payment of property taxes, insurance premiums, and related escrow disbursements to prevent penalties, delinquencies, or lapses in coverage.
• Review tax service reporting to identify missing legal details, payment issues, or other exceptions that could affect collateral protection.
• Audit tax transactions, force-placed insurance charges, refunds, and vendor activity to confirm proper application to loan accounts.
• Obtain insurance documentation from carriers, borrowers, or agents and update servicing records to reflect verified coverage.
• Prepare and monitor recurring operational reports, complete assigned tickets and tasks accurately, and assist with projects, procedure updates, and cross-functional support as business needs change.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or at least three years of mortgage servicing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related training.• Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in mortgage servicing, escrow administration, loan operations, or a closely related function.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or coach others in a fast-moving, service-focused environment with changing priorities.
• Strong financial and mathematical reasoning skills, including the ability to review loan activity, payment application, and escrow-related calculations.
• Working knowledge of regulations and industry requirements governing escrow accounts, including consumer protection expectations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with strong follow-through, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with the ability to learn servicing systems and other operational tools quickly.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail; bilingual English and Spanish skills are helpful but not required.
Compensation
