Patient Access Specialist
Responsibilities:
• Welcome patients and visitors warmly, providing attentive service that helps create a positive front-end experience.
• Complete patient intake by gathering, reviewing, and updating demographic, insurance, and financial details within the electronic medical record system.
• Confirm insurance coverage, secure required pre-authorizations, and clearly communicate out-of-pocket obligations such as copays and deductibles.
• Coordinate appointment calendars by booking, adjusting, and confirming visits in partnership with providers and clinical support staff.
• Protect confidential records and carry out all registration activities in accordance with healthcare privacy standards and organizational policies.
• Respond to patient questions related to intake, billing, referrals, and available services, addressing concerns directly or routing them to the appropriate team member when needed.
Qualifications:
• Experience supporting patient registration or front-desk access functions in a healthcare environment.• Working knowledge of appointment scheduling processes and patient intake workflows.
• Ability to verify medical insurance eligibility and explain basic coverage and payment responsibility details.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist patients professionally and empathetically.
• Comfort using electronic medical record systems and entering information with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to manage confidential information responsibly and follow healthcare compliance requirements.
Compensation
