Payroll Specialist - Construction

Robert Half is partnering with a growing construction company to identify a Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with construction industry experience and a strong understanding of prevailing wage, certified payroll, and union payroll requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Process weekly or biweekly payroll for construction employees
• Review and verify employee timecards, job codes, pay rates, and deductions
• Process payroll for multiple projects and job sites
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports
• Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements
• Support union payroll processing, including dues, benefits, and fringe calculations
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records
• Process new hires, terminations, pay changes, and employee updates
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
• Coordinate with project managers, field employees, and HR regarding payroll questions
• Assist with payroll tax filings and related compliance requirements
• Maintain accurate records related to workers' compensation, benefits, and payroll deductions
• Assist with audits and other payroll-related projects as needed

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• 2+ years of payroll experience
• Construction payroll experience strongly preferred
• Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
• Knowledge of union payroll and fringe benefit calculations is a plus
• Experience processing payroll for multiple job sites or projects
• Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, UKG, or similar
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Strong organizational and communication skills
