Staff Accountant - Construction

Robert Half is partnering with a growing construction company to identify a Staff Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger experience who is comfortable working in a project-based construction environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
• Assist with job costing, project accounting, and cost tracking
• Review project-related expenses and ensure costs are properly coded
• Assist with construction billing, change orders, and contract-related accounting
• Support financial reporting and variance analysis
• Maintain accurate accounting records and assist with audit requests
• Assist with special accounting and finance projects as needed

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
• Experience with journal entries and month-end close
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience with job costing or project accounting is a plus
• Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar systems is preferred
• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
