Plant Accountant
Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Accountant to support financial operations within a manufacturing environment. This contract role will partner closely with plant leadership and be responsible for cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, variance analysis, and month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights that support operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage plant cost accounting and inventory accounting activities.
- Monitor and reconcile raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventories.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory transactions, and production variances.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables.
- Perform standard vs. actual cost analysis and investigate variances.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle count programs.
- Assist with annual audits and internal control initiatives.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve reporting accuracy and operational performance.
- Develop reporting and analysis to support management decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting physical inventory counts and audits.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both finance and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Experience with standard costing, actual costing, inventory valuation methods, and lot tracking.
- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as Syteline, iSeries, AS400, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools.
Compensation
