Sr. Accountant

Our client, a growing company in the biotech industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its San Diego-based team. This position will play a key role in supporting the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting policies
• Prepare financial statements and internal management reports
• Analyze variances, trends, and financial results to support decision-making
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting activities as needed
• Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external auditors
• Help maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
• Partner cross-functionally with finance and operational teams

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Biotech, life sciences, or other regulated industry experience is a plus
• CPA or CPA-track preferred
