Procurement Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Contract Procurement Specialist to support purchasing operations in a fast-paced hardware-focused environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on keeping materials flowing, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring critical components are available when needed. You’ll serve as a key link between internal stakeholders and external suppliers, helping maintain continuity across sourcing, ordering, inventory visibility, and vendor communication. Success in this role requires urgency, organization, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple moving pieces at once.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing and Material Coordination
- Identify and purchase a wide range of components, parts, and supplies needed for ongoing build and operational activities
- Issue purchase orders, confirm order details, and monitor deliveries through completion
- Support timely acquisition of standard catalog items as well as custom-fabricated materials
- Anticipate supply constraints and take action early to avoid schedule interruptions
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand changing material requirements and priorities
Supplier and Order Management
- Communicate directly with distributors, manufacturers, and fabrication partners to obtain pricing, availability, and lead times
- Build productive supplier relationships that support quality, responsiveness, and competitive cost
- Follow up on open orders, expedite urgent requests, and resolve shipping or fulfillment issues
- Assist with supplier selection by comparing quotes, turnaround times, and service reliability
Inventory, Documentation, and Accuracy
- Maintain clear records of purchases, order status, receipts, and inventory activity
- Help keep stock levels aligned with operational demand so essential items are readily available
- Support bill of materials updates, part lists, and kit preparation as needed
- Track discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns and communicate them to the appropriate teams
- Contribute to process improvements that increase purchasing efficiency and reduce avoidable delays
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, operations, or materials coordination
- Background in manufacturing, hardware, engineering, industrial, automotive, aerospace, or related environments is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfortable working with vendors, internal teams, and technical information
- Experience with purchase orders, inventory tracking, and supplier follow-up
- Able to review drawings, part descriptions, or bills of materials with a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Dependable, responsive, and able to work effectively in a fast-moving setting
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to mechanical or electronic components
- Familiarity with machine shops, fabrication vendors, or technical distributors
- Experience sourcing both off-the-shelf and made-to-order parts
- Knowledge of procurement tools, ERP systems, spreadsheets, or supplier portals
