Job Description


Basic Purpose
Oversees and leads a team of bargaining unit electricians. Leads the substation construction program. Utilizing both internal, and external resources (as necessary), executes the operating and growth capital programs. Ensures proper construction practices and commissioning services are utilized on all construction projects. Provides 24/7 response for substation related alarms and outages. May serve as a compliance lead for Company. Provides a safe, transparent and accountable atmosphere for construction electricians.


Responsibilities


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Creates a safe working environment for the electricians. Ensures the team is continuing to be safe and are supported with the tools necessary to perform their jobs safely.

Owns and execute the substation construction program. Executes all operating and growth construction projects on time and on budget.

Ensures substation standards are followed and improved upon.

If external resources are necessary to meet the construction schedule, owns and executes proper contractor programs, including but not limited to, accident prevention, safety, construction and commissioning services.

Acts as a compliance lead and/or a subject matter expert for all applicable WECC/NERC reliability standards and criterion.

Ensures all OSHA and MSHA requirements are in compliance and documented.

Participates and oversee 24/7 response team for operational needs during system restoration and outages. Responds to dispatch calls during business hours for all relay related outages/alarms and participate on rotational weekly 24/7 on-call duties.

Responsible for applicable operating capital budgeting.

Responsible for applicable software, including but not limited to, Power DB, Cascade, Megger, etc.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Performs additional duties assigned.


Qualifications


Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school plus 6 years of related work experience.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Substation construction concepts, philosophy and schemes.

Substation construction and commissioning.

WECC/NERC regulatory requirements to maintain compliance.

General bargaining unit agreements and its implementation.

Demonstrated skills such as:
Analytical, interpersonal and communication.

Leadership, planning, and organizational.

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Knowledge Cascade, Power DB, Megger, and SharePoint.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Field and office environment. No special physical demands required.
