Responsibilities

The Damage Prevention Specialist plays a critical role in preventing utility damages by serving as a liaison between homeowners, contractors, and the gas utility. This position promotes safe excavation practices, ensures accurate utility markings, and supports compliance with state 811 dig laws.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce safe digging practices in accordance with state 811 dig laws

  • Visit active job sites using a company-provided vehicle to communicate with contractors and homeowners regarding safe excavation procedures

  • Coordinate and facilitate corrections or updates to gas utility markings as needed

  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of utility markings

  • Accurately document daily activities, observations, and field findings

  • Assist with identifying marked utilities, structures, and map information in the field

  • Perform operator-level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment

  • Complete other related duties as assigned



Qualifications



  • Experience with locating gas utilities highly preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year
  • Proficient communication verbal and written communication
