A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to join a dynamic group engaged in studying the interactions among heredity, environment, and childhood asthma. Projects are available in the development and application of novel methods for analyses of metagenomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics in asthma studies.

Responsibilities include directing scientific studies of integrative asthma “omics”, presenting progress and next steps at research divisional meetings (twice per year), weekly technical lab meetings, weekly research in progress meetings, monthly 1:1 meetings with the PI, and advising and supporting trainees within the laboratory. There are no requirements to co-manage or supervise the lab, as these tasks are managed by faculty and technicians within the lab. However, successful candidates are engaged in informal teaching and training opportunities within the lab, and will be responsible for preparing first-drafts of manuscripts from any publishable studies and expected to write a Mentored Career Award application to the NHLBI within the first year of her/his appointment. The hiree will also be required to follow an NIH-approved data management and sharing plan, for which good laboratory notebook skills are essential. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics and possess strong communication skills. Applicants should have proficiency in statistical analysis of “omics” data. Experience in studies of metagenomics and childhood asthma is desirable.
