Staff Accountant

Compensation: $50 to $70 Yearly

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Fresno, California. In this role, you will support day-to-day accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reporting, and helping ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to fiscal accountability while partnering closely with accounting leadership on core financial activities.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities while maintaining alignment with applicable federal, state, local, and funding guidelines.
• Complete bank account reconciliations and review corporate card statements to ensure transactions are accurate and properly documented.
• Prepare check requests and record routine and adjusting journal entries within the general ledger.
• Process payroll-related accounting entries and post payroll activity accurately to the general ledger.
• Assist in producing funder invoices, fiscal reports, and internal financial statements in a timely manner.
• Organize and maintain accounting files, financial records, and supporting documentation for ongoing operations and compliance needs.
• Support fixed asset tracking and help update schedules related to capitalized items and inventory oversight.
• Contribute to month-end close tasks and provide assistance during financial reviews and audits.
• Recommend process improvements that promote efficient and cost-effective fiscal operations and participate in meetings or training related to funding requirements as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to perform reconciliations accurately, including bank accounts and credit card statements.
• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with payroll accounting and maintaining organized fiscal records.
• Ability to support audits, reporting deadlines, and compliance-driven accounting activities in a structured environment.

Compensation

$50,000.00-$70,000.00 Yearly
