Medical Receptionist
We are looking for a detail-oriented part-time Medical Receptionist/Office Assistant to join a behavioral health team in Reno, Nevada in a Contract to Permanent role. This position is Monday through Thursday from 9:00AM to 2:00PM and supports daily front-office and administrative operations with a strong focus on insurance coordination, billing support, client record accuracy, and therapist assistance. The ideal candidate brings prior administrative experience in a healthcare setting and can manage multiple documentation and reimbursement tasks with accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support to therapists by managing paperwork, maintaining files, and tracking required documentation.
• Complete provider credentialing and insurance enrollment paperwork for new therapists and maintain submission records.
• Compile billing information for insurance plans, grant programs, external billing partners, and direct pay sources.
• Prepare and send prior authorization requests to insurance carriers in a timely and accurate manner.
• Organize and submit client and account details to billing specialists and contracted reimbursement entities.
• Coordinate with billing contacts to help monitor accounts receivable and resolve outstanding claim issues.
• Maintain ongoing communication with insurance representatives and other reimbursement partners regarding coverage, claims, and account status.
• Verify client insurance eligibility, track scheduled sessions, and monitor required treatment plan updates.
• Answer phone and communicate with client and provide accurate information about services.
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of administrative experience, preferably in a medical or behavioral health setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with Medicare and EHR systems
• Working knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance-related documentation.
• Experience supporting behavioral health services, Nevada Medicaid, and private insurance plans.
• Proficiency with Excel, PDF/document software, Windows File Explorer, and insurance portals.
• Ability to manage records accurately while handling multiple deadlines and follow-up tasks.
• Knowledge of myBestPractice (MyBP) is a bonus but not required.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with patients, therapists, insurers, and billing partners.
