Sr. Accountant

Richmond, VA 23219, US Temporary
Compensation: $52.25 to $60.50 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Richmond, Virginia. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing fixed asset and capital reporting, and driving timely completion of month-end and year-end activities. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee fixed asset accounting activities, including tracking additions, retirements, depreciation, and related reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Lead monthly and annual close tasks to ensure deadlines are met and financial data is complete.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank activity, and other ledger accounts to resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Produce financial statements, supporting schedules, and footnote documentation in accordance with US GAAP.
• Support financial and capital budget reporting by compiling data, analyzing results, and preparing management-ready reports.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to address accounting questions and communicate financial information clearly to various levels of the organization.
• Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel and, when applicable, Workday Financial Management or Ariba to support accounting and procurement-related processes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in a senior-level capacity.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Proven experience with account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and ledger balancing.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and US GAAP, including financial statement and footnote preparation.
• Experience managing fixed assets and supporting capital or financial reporting activities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and data review.
• Ability to work collaboratively while communicating effectively with both finance teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience with Workday Financial Management or Ariba is preferred.

Compensation

$52.25-$60.50 Hourly
