Grant Accountant

Compensation: $80 to $110 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to support the financial management of restricted funding in New York, New York. This role will serve as a key resource for grant-related accounting activities, helping ensure accurate allocation of funds, reliable reporting, and adherence to sponsor requirements. The position works closely with leadership and accounting partners to oversee grant budgets, monitor expenditures, and strengthen financial oversight across multiple funding sources.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the accounting lifecycle for grant-funded programs, including tracking restricted revenue and monitoring related expenses.
• Review grant budgets and spending activity to confirm funds are used in accordance with donor, foundation, and government award requirements.
• Partner with accounting and program teams to prepare financial reports, budget updates, and forecasts tied to sponsored funding.
• Reconcile grant-related accounts, record journal entries, and support month-end close activities with a high degree of accuracy.
• Oversee voucher preparation and supporting documentation for reimbursement-based awards and other sponsored funding arrangements.
• Monitor compliance with city, state, federal, and private grant conditions, identifying issues and helping resolve them promptly.
• Provide grant accounting expertise to internal stakeholders and support decision-making through clear financial analysis.
• Utilize Sage Intacct, Workday Adaptive, Excel, and other financial tools to maintain records and produce reporting for grant portfolios.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including significant responsibility for grant accounting and restricted funds management.
• Demonstrated experience working with federal grants and additional government or foundation-funded programs.
• Strong knowledge of grant compliance, budget controls, cost allocation, and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze financial data and support reporting needs efficiently.
• Experience using accounting and planning systems such as Sage Intacct and Workday Adaptive is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial guidance clearly to stakeholders.

Compensation

$80,000.00-$110,000.00 Yearly
