Property Accountant

The property accountant role will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The Property Accountant will work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
• Record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tenant billing activities.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual CAM reconciliations.
• Support external audits and tax preparation activities.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Collaborate with property managers to analyze property performance and resolve accounting issues

Qualifications:

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
• Experience with Yardi Voyager is required.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures.
• Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
• Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
