Property Accountant
The property accountant role will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The Property Accountant will work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes for assigned properties.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tenant billing activities.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual CAM reconciliations.
- Support external audits and tax preparation activities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Collaborate with property managers to analyze property performance and resolve accounting issues
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager is required.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures.
- Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
- Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
