Accounts Payable Specialist
Our client is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for a 4–6+ month onsite contract engagement. This role will support day-to-day accounts payable operations and help ensure timely, accurate processing of invoices and payments. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience working in high-volume AP environments, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external vendors. Government or nonprofit experience is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents, as applicable.
- Prepare and process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies or payment issues.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts payable.
- Maintain organized and accurate AP files and records in accordance with company policies.
- Support audit requests and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other internal teams as needed.
Qualifications:

- 2+ years of accounts payable experience preferred.
- Experience with full-cycle accounts payable processing.
- Government or nonprofit accounting experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in an onsite environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Attributes:
- Familiarity with purchase orders, invoice matching, and vendor management.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Ability to quickly learn systems and adapt to established processes.
Compensation
