Job purpose
Analyze performance data to identify improvement opportunities. Ensure that continuous improvement projects are implemented to improve overall production flow, quality and communication throughout the business unit. Utilize lean theories to train and coach plant personnel on the use of continuous improvement methodologies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of work force and equipment.
- Analyze the supply and demand of company’s product and forecast.
- Develop a capacity planning tool.
- Implements methods of improvement based on leading edge technologies and lean engineering principles to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays and costs.
- Analyze, recommend, and implement enhancements to existing work methods, flows and processes to improve current capabilities.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for methods and processes.
- Drive continuous improvement of new and existing supplied products and materials.
- Establish work measurement programs and analyze jobs to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Plan and schedule shop floor orders in conjunction with operations, quality and engineering teams.
- Ensure accuracy of ERP system data inputs
- Communicates with management on all changes in work standards.
- Manage facility continuous improvement systems.
- Lead facility kaizen events.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Engineering or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Working technical knowledge and experience in an aerospace environment preferred.
- Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience: Sound understanding of and a minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques and methodologies in the areas of Standardized Work, Kaizen, Problem-Solving, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required, and proven experience with effective teams and continuous improvement methods strongly preferred.
- Computer proficiency: strong skills in various PC applications
- Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Working conditions
- May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
- Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
- Could work in areas with excessive noise. NOTE: Ear protection available.
Physical requirements
- Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
- Required to do repetitive work.
- Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
