Job Summary:
The Sales Director is responsible for leading all sales and business development activities for the aerospace and commercial forging operation. This role drives revenue growth, develops strategic customer relationships, expands market share, and ensures alignment between customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities. The Sales Director works closely with operations, quality, engineering, and executive leadership to deliver profitable growth across aerospace, defense, industrial, and commercial markets. Accountable for sales management, planning, customer relations, and capture strategy for applicable area. Support senior management staff with overall business STRAT planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Sales Leadership and Strategy:
    • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
    • Identify new business opportunities in aerospace, defense, energy, industrial, and other commercial forging markets.
    • Lead forecasting, pipeline management, and market analysis activities.
    • Establish pricing strategies aligned with market conditions, production capacity, and margin objectives.
    • Build long-term relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, distributors, and strategic accounts.
  2. Business Development:
    • Pursue RFQs, long-term agreements (LTAs), and new program opportunities.
    • Expand customer base through prospecting, networking, trade shows, and industry associations.
    • Develop account penetration strategies for existing customers.
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, pricing, and commercial agreements.
  3. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Serve as primary contact for key accounts.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through responsiveness, delivery coordination, and issue resolution.
    • Collaborate with quality and operations teams to address customer concerns and corrective actions.
    • Conduct regular customer visits and executive reviews.
  4. Technical & Operational Coordination:
    • Work closely with engineering and production teams to understand forging capabilities, metallurgy, machining, and heat-treat processes.
    • Review customer specifications, drawings, and compliance requirements.
    • Coordinate with estimating and production planning to ensure accurate quotations and achievable lead times.
    • Support new product introductions and program launches.
  5. Aerospace Compliance and Industry Knowledge:
    • Maintain understanding of aerospace standards, including AS9100, NADCAP, DFARS, and customer-specific requirements.
    • Support compliance initiatives and customer audits as needed.
    • Understand supply chain expectations for aerospace and high-performance forged components.
  6. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor sales managers, account managers, and inside sales personnel.
    • Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and accountability measures.
    • Foster collaboration between sales and manufacturing operations.
    • Support recruiting, training, and development of commercial staff.
  7. Reporting and Financial Performance:
    • Prepare monthly sales reports, forecasts, and market analyses for executive leadership.
    • Monitor margins, booking trends, backlog, and customer profitability.
    • Support annual budgeting and strategic planning processes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10-12 years of sales leadership experience in forging, aerospace manufacturing, metals, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage complex projects, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience selling forged components, closed-die forgings, open-die forgings, or machined metal products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead teams, influencing others to perform in a fast-paced and demanding environment, creating followership and achieving commitments and targets.
  • Excellent communication (interpersonal, speaking, and written), negotiation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Strong Business Financial Acumen.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with high-performance alloys (titanium, nickel, stainless steel, aluminum)
Other Requirements:
  • Travel: ~50%, to customer sites, trade shows, and manufacturing facilities. International travel as required.
  • Work Environment: Manufacturing sites, and office work environment
  • Background Investigation / Drug Screen: Required.
