Application Support Engineer

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to support critical plant-focused software environments for a manufacturing organization in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who combines hands-on application support expertise with strong coordination skills to keep systems stable, current, and responsive to business needs. The role will serve as a key point of ownership for assigned applications, helping manage incidents, oversee patching activities, and guide enhancement efforts in partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary owner for assigned manufacturing and quality-related applications, ensuring reliable day-to-day performance and issue resolution.
• Manage support requests across multiple levels of complexity, triaging incidents, tracking progress, and escalating specialized problems to external application vendors when needed.
• Coordinate application updates, maintenance activities, and patch deployments to keep platforms secure, compliant, and operational.
• Lead assigned application initiatives using structured project delivery methods, with the ability to work in both waterfall and agile-style environments.
• Partner with business users and technical teams to evaluate support trends, identify recurring issues, and improve overall application service quality.
• Oversee change activities related to application enhancements, configuration adjustments, and operational improvements while maintaining clear documentation.
• Provide support for plant and quality systems, including applications such as Leakdoss and Limb systems, based on business priorities.
• Use ServiceNow and related ITSM tools to manage ticket workflows, monitor support activity, and maintain accurate records of incidents, requests, and changes.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting enterprise applications in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in application support, including incident management, troubleshooting, and coordination with third-party vendors.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, including ticket management and ITSM processes.
• Knowledge of application patching, update coordination, and change management practices.
• Project management capability with experience overseeing application-related work from planning through execution.
• Ability to support a range of issue severities across multiple support tiers.
• Familiarity with both waterfall delivery methods and agile ways of working.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a team-oriented environment.
