Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support a non-profit organization in Stamford, Connecticut. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys precision-driven work, and brings a solid foundation in day-to-day accounting support. The person in this role will help maintain timely invoice processing, accurate financial records, and consistent vendor communication while working onsite Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices, verify supporting documentation, and process payments with a high level of accuracy.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving records to confirm completeness before entry and approval.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to payables activity and assist with routine accounting updates.
• Coordinate invoice approval follow-up to keep transactions moving through the payment cycle on schedule.
• Respond to vendor inquiries, resolve payment-related issues, and maintain consistent ongoing supplier communication.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and supporting records to ensure accurate documentation and easy retrieval.
• Enter and monitor purchasing and invoice data within the Oracle system and other accounting tools as needed.
• Support high-volume transactional work by managing repetitive processes efficiently while maintaining close attention to detail.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in accounts payable with hands-on responsibility for invoice processing and payment support.
• Practical knowledge of purchase orders, three-way matching, and invoice coding procedures.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and apply basic accounting principles accurately.
• Familiarity with Oracle or a comparable enterprise accounting system.
• Strong Excel skills for tracking, reviewing, and reconciling financial information.
• Proven ability to manage large transaction volumes without sacrificing accuracy.
• Detail-oriented work style with strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
