Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy accounting team in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage the complete accounts payable cycle with accuracy, consistency, and strong attention to detail. The role will focus on invoice processing, payment preparation, and maintaining organized financial records while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable process from invoice receipt through final payment and record reconciliation.
• Review invoices for accuracy, assign proper general ledger codes, and ensure supporting documentation is complete.
• Prepare and process vendor payments through ACH transactions and scheduled check runs in accordance with company timelines.
• Maintain accurate payable records, resolve discrepancies, and follow up with internal teams or vendors to address outstanding issues.
• Reconcile accounts payable activity and help ensure all transactions are recorded correctly in the accounting system.
• Support day-to-day use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar systems for invoice entry, payment tracking, and reporting.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of recent accounts payable experience, including ownership of full-cycle AP activities.
• Strong knowledge of invoice coding, account coding, and payment processing procedures.
• Experience handling ACH payments and coordinating check run schedules.
• Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is strongly preferred.
• Solid attention to detail with the ability to manage a high volume of transactions accurately.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Compensation

$22.80-$26.40 Hourly
