Tax Accountant - Public
We are looking for a skilled Tax Accountant member to support a diverse client base in Corona, California. This role combines tax preparation, financial statement review, client advisory support, and hands-on oversight in a public accounting environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, communicates clearly with clients, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and finalize financial statements, including required adjustments to ensure each reporting period is closed accurately.
• Manage payroll tax compliance by completing and submitting quarterly and annual payroll-related filings for clients.
• Handle sales tax and other applicable excise tax filings while monitoring deadlines and supporting ongoing compliance needs.
• Review accounting records, identify discrepancies in accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, and resolve issues to improve accuracy.
• Provide guidance to staff and clients by answering questions, reviewing completed work, and helping ensure accounting and tax tasks meet quality standards.
• Support clients during tax-related and small business audits by gathering documentation, organizing records, and assisting with required filings.
• Research tax regulations and complex filing matters to address client questions and stay current with changing laws and industry standards.
• Build strong client relationships by offering thoughtful recommendations, explaining financial information clearly, and identifying opportunities to expand services.
• Work across a variety of industries, including restaurants, real estate, consulting, retail, and service-based businesses, adapting support to each client’s needs.
Qualifications:
• CPA license or active progress toward obtaining CPA certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in public accounting, tax, or a closely related environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare individual and corporate tax returns with a strong understanding of tax preparation practices.
• Solid knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles, including experience reviewing financial data and monthly financial statements.
• Confidence in client-facing interactions, with the professionalism and interpersonal skills needed to build trust and explain financial matters clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Broad exposure to multiple industries and the ability to adjust recommendations based on different business models and operational needs.
Compensation
