POSITION SUMMARY: Develops relationships with customers, applies credit policies and pursues payment collection (including legal resources) with a commercial collections work environment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure that the corporate credit policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Perform collections activities for accounts within a specified portfolio.
- Update credit files for existing customers and process new credit applications.
- Research and resolve short pays and deductions.
- Monitor credit and collection status of assigned customers and set appropriate credit limits.
- Determine release of orders based on customer credit status.
- Communicate effectively with salespeople regarding customer status and relationship.
- Analyze contracts and purchase orders for project scope, legal terms & conditions in compliance with corporate directive.
- Customer service and related management skills requiring periodic joint sales calls with Hawthornes sales team.
- Resolve customer disputes and collection issues timely.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Associates/Bachelors in Business Administration or equivalent; and/or three to ten years related commercial credit experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong customer focus and relationship building skills
- Ability to read and evaluate financial information as it relates to credit decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire for quality and continuous improvement within a high paced work environment.
- Technical competency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service and training skills requiring the ability to train and team build.
- Must have a valid California Class C Drivers License.
- Knowledge of mechanics lien law and public/private job rights strongly preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking and moving about on foot often up and down stairs.
- Handling: Seizes, helps or works with hands.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position If required to perform various functions of the job.
- Vision: Read paperwork, employment files and records on the computer.
- Talking: Communications by phone and in person.
- Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
