Staff Accountant
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining general ledger accuracy, preparing reconciliations and accruals, assisting with forecasting activities, managing expense reporting, and supporting accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Analyze financial transactions and ensure proper account classifications.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
Account Reconciliations & Accruals
- Prepare monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding items and resolve reconciling differences.
- Calculate and record monthly accruals for operating expenses and other liabilities.
- Review account activity and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
- Assist with variance analysis and financial reporting support.
Forecasting & Financial Analysis
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze operating expenses and identify trends impacting financial performance.
- Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review.
- Assist in monitoring departmental spending against budget expectations.
Accounts Payable
- Review and process vendor invoices in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure accurate coding and approval of invoices.
- Assist with payment processing and vendor account maintenance.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Monitor open accounts and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
Expense Reporting
- Review employee expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper documentation.
- Process employee reimbursements in a timely manner.
- Investigate and resolve expense report discrepancies.
- Monitor travel and entertainment expenses and ensure adherence to company guidelines.
The salary range for this position is $30 to $32..21. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a role with exposure to close activities and general ledger support.
• Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end accounting processes.
• Background in accounts payable and employee expense report review is required.
• Familiarity with budgeting support, forecasting input, or expense trend analysis is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Teams.
Compensation
