Senior Accounting Manager
Responsibilities:
• Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle to deliver complete and reliable financial results on schedule.
• Manage complex accounting activities across research and development accruals, lease accounting, fixed assets, intercompany balances, treasury transactions, debt-related entries, and other significant balance sheet and income statement areas.
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity to maintain accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and support a strong control environment.
• Guide and develop accounting staff by setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and encouraging high standards of execution and teamwork.
• Collaborate with FP& A, Legal, Human Resources, Tax, Commercial, and Clinical Development teams to assess the accounting treatment of operational matters and strategic initiatives.
• Work closely with the Corporate Controller to interpret accounting guidance, implement updated standards, and apply policies consistently across the organization.
• Contribute to the design and refinement of internal controls and support ongoing compliance efforts related to the accounting function.
• Coordinate with external auditors by organizing schedules, preparing supporting documentation, and responding to audit requests in a timely manner.
• Prepare financial analyses, reporting packages, and presentation materials for executive leadership to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
• Strong background leading month-end close activities, general ledger operations, account reconciliations, and journal entry review.• Demonstrated experience overseeing financial statement audit support and working effectively with external auditors.
• Expertise in accounting for clinical trial accruals and other research-driven expenses within biotech, biotechnology, or specialty pharmaceutical environments.
• Solid understanding of technical accounting areas such as leases, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, treasury activity, and debt accounting.
• Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and communicate accounting conclusions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience managing or mentoring accounting professionals in a fast-paced corporate setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced credentials such as CPA are a plus.
