HR Generalist

We are looking for an HR Generalist to support a broad range of human resources activities for a team based in Santa Clara, California. This 3-6 month contract position is ideal for someone who can balance employee support, compliance, and operational excellence in a fully onsite environment. The role will contribute across the employee experience, from hiring and onboarding through performance support, benefits administration, and separation processes. Success in this position requires sound judgment, strong organization, and a practical understanding of California employment practices.

Responsibilities:

• Promote a respectful, inclusive, and policy-aligned work environment by providing day-to-day HR support to employees and managers.

• Oversee benefits and leave administration, including health and retirement programs, paid leave requests, workers’ compensation matters, and workplace accommodation processes.

• Keep employee files, HR records, and supporting documentation accurate, current, and properly maintained for compliance and reporting purposes.

• Coordinate key stages of the employee lifecycle, including interview logistics, hiring activities, onboarding, performance-related processes, development support, and offboarding tasks.

• Conduct exit discussions, compile feedback, and identify patterns that may influence retention efforts and employee engagement strategies.

• Monitor HR practices for alignment with federal, California, and local employment requirements, and help address compliance-related issues proactively.

• Assist with audits, labor-related reporting, documentation reviews, and ongoing recordkeeping to support internal and external requirements.

• Work closely with cross-functional partners and outside service providers to ensure smooth delivery of HR programs and daily operations.

• Contribute to special projects and process improvements, including HRIS-related initiatives and other department priorities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a well-rounded HR Generalist capacity with direct exposure to employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and compliance activities.
• Working knowledge of California employment law and established human resources practices.
• Ability to assist with employee relations matters and support workplace investigations with discretion and professionalism.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms; experience with Paycom is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation.
• Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fully onsite setting.
• Background supporting onboarding, HR administration, and employee record management in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
