Director of Parish Administration
The Director of Parish Administration (DPA) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the church’s administrative and business operations, ensuring ministries are supported through effective management of finance, human resources, communications, facilities, technology, preschool operations, and organizational processes. Reporting to the Senior Pastor, the DPA collaborates with church leadership to execute strategic initiatives, manage resources, and promote a healthy, service-oriented culture.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Business Management
Oversee finance, budgeting, payroll, benefits, communications, facilities, preschool operations, hospitality, and volunteer engagement.
Lead staff meetings, monitor action items, allocate resources, and ensure operational goals are achieved.
Support ministry leaders through planning, coordination, and administrative leadership.
Membership & Records Management
Maintain membership records, including baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals, transfers, attendance, and participation statistics.
Manage ShelbyNext database and oversee attendance and faith formation records.
Coordinate visitor follow-up, new member onboarding, and membership communications.
Human Resources
Supervise administrative staff and volunteers.
Oversee personnel records, payroll, timekeeping, leave administration, onboarding, training, compliance, and employee relations.
Serve as a resource for workplace concerns and staff support.
Facilities, Calendar & Events
Manage the church master calendar, facility scheduling, meetings, special events, and outside group usage.
Coordinate logistics and resources for congregational programs and ministry activities.
Strategic Leadership & Administration
Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic plans and track organizational goals.
Oversee contracts, records, council documents, annual reports, grant requests, and denominational reporting.
Ensure effective communication regarding key church initiatives, meetings, and events.
Communications & Stewardship
Support stewardship campaigns, donor communications, branding, website management, social media, and promotional materials.
Assist with coordination of worship services, weddings, funerals, and special events.

Overall Objective: Provide strategic and operational leadership that ensures the church's business, administrative, and support functions operate efficiently, allowing ministry leaders to focus on serving and growing the congregation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in Business, Management, HR, Communications, Divinity, or related field. Proven executive leadership experience with strengths in strategic planning, team development, finance, HR, nonprofit and volunteer management, communications, and problem-solving. Ability to build relationships, coordinate staff and volunteers, evaluate programs, maintain confidentiality, and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Includes 2 weeks vacation and 2 weeks continuing education annually.
Compensation
