Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in New York, New York for a Contract position during the month of August. This role will support a high-volume invoice environment and help maintain timely, accurate payment processing while providing coverage during a short-term team absence. The ideal candidate brings hands-on accounts payable experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in an onsite setting.

Responsibilities:
• Handle end-to-end accounts payable activities for a large monthly invoice volume, ensuring transactions are reviewed and completed accurately.
• Assign appropriate account codes, organize invoice batches, and prepare items for timely payment processing.
• Execute payment activities including ACH transactions, wire transfers, and check runs in accordance with established procedures.
• Oversee vendor invoice processing across multiple subsidiary entities while maintaining organized records and consistent follow-through.
• Review outstanding items, help reduce any existing backlog, and keep invoice workflow moving efficiently during the coverage period.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, answer payment-related questions, and support smooth daily AP operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold compliance with internal accounting standards and approval requirements.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounts payable experience in a detail-oriented business environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle AP processing with a strong level of accuracy and organization.
• Experience coding invoices and applying correct account classifications.
• Working knowledge of payment methods such as ACH, wire transfers, and check processing.
• Comfortable handling a high volume of invoices within tight deadlines.
• Ability to support accounts payable activities for multiple entities or business units.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work onsite during standard business hours.

Compensation

$26.13-$30.25 Hourly
