Medical Billing Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join a healthcare team in Columbus, Ohio in a contract position with the potential to become permanent. This role focuses on reviewing billing information for accuracy, correcting discrepancies, and supporting timely claims processing in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, works carefully with data, and is comfortable receiving feedback while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

Responsibilities:
• Review patient billing and claims information to confirm accuracy before submission and follow-up activity.
• Identify data inconsistencies, investigate billing-related issues, and make timely corrections to reduce processing delays.
• Enter, update, and maintain billing records with a strong focus on precision and completeness.
• Support medical claims workflows by tracking documentation and helping resolve items that may affect reimbursement.
• Assist with collection-related activities by monitoring outstanding balances and coordinating appropriate follow-up.
• Use billing software and spreadsheets to organize account details, verify information, and report status updates as needed.
• Communicate with internal teams and external contacts to clarify account information and address billing questions professionally.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in medical billing within a healthcare or related administrative setting.
• Working knowledge of medical claims, collections, and coding concepts.
• Strong data entry skills with the ability to spot and correct errors efficiently.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reviewing and organizing information.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to accept constructive feedback and apply it to improve performance.
• Experience with Compulink is helpful but not required.

Compensation

$18.00-$20.00 Hourly
